Naked Lunch Isn't What It Sounds Like

North Beach cafe set to open with an interesting name

Initial news about the sandwich shop by Ian Begg and Ryan Maxey came out last week, but as noted Thursday, the former Cafe Majestic guys have revealed all kinds of further project details this week.

As you'll recall, it's going to be in the Enrico's annex along the Broadway strip and will do weekday lunch only (at least initially). The restaurant is still on track for a debut this coming Monday.

The name of the place is supposed to be a tip of the cap to the neighborhood and its onetime Beat Generation, William S. Burroughs and such, so the ex-hippies in the crowd shouldn't cringe. What's it called you ask? Naked Lunch. There will not be any nudist behind the counter though, as far as we know.

That said, if someone decides to start a North Beach mobile food cart called On the Road, there might have to be an intervention.

Here is a sample menu from Naked Lunch:

Fried Chicken Sandwich: Mustard, Coleslaw, Pain De Mie Roll $10

Open Faced Focaccia Sandwich: Roasted Eggplant, Oven Dried Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella $8

Poached Salmon Sandwich: Grain Mustard, Grilled Scallions, Pickled Beets $10

Cup of corn Soup with truffle salt $8

Lychee Limeonade $2.50
