Oakland's Netta Brielle was raised on the strong and fly sounds of 90s R&B, when acts like TLC, SWV, Xscape, Aaliyah, Brandy, and Missy Elliott captured her imagination. While she neither looks nor sounds like these artists, their spirit of individuality is something she absorbed.
She is also heavily influenced by the Bay Area's always-colorful music scene. As a child growing up in Berkeley, she remembers being pulled up on stage to dance at an MC Hammer concert. On the other end of the sonic spectrum, she holds a degree in musical theater from San Jose State.
Her sense of local history is evidenced on her new single "3xKrazy." A joint production between popular natives Traxamillion and P-LO, the song samples "Keep It On The Real," a 17-year-old local anthem by 3X Krazy. The trio of Keak Da Sneak, B.A., and Agerman recorded together for just three years, but this song from their debut remains a classic.
