Plywood Coda: Cafe Prague Sprouts Up on Merchant

Financial District: When Cafe Prague shuttered on Pacific Avenue, it claimed the reason was a retrofit, but now it would appear that we may have a complete change of venue on our hands. The above signage was spotted at 424 Merchant Street, that little nondescript alley just off Battery and Maritime Plaza in the heart of the FiDi. Since the previous tenant looks like it was an office operation of some sort, we'd bet that some renovations need to be done, though if the transfer deal goes through, it will be sad if the original Cafe Prague and its brick walls are doneski for good.
