Preview Mission Cheese, Opening Tomorrow

Mission-bound cheese lovers will flock to a new mecca starting tomorrow, lured by the irresistible stink of domestic dairy in wheel form, to a new shop and eatery at 736 Valencia Street. Mission Cheese is Sarah Dvorak's hard-earned fruit of labor and a reflection of her deep passion for all things cheese. Her ever-evolving chalkboard menu will be to the point yet thoroughly satisfying, naturally, since most everything has something cheesy.

Expect carefully crafted cheese plates, a mac and cheese du jour, pressed cheese sandwiches (sometimes with prosciutto or salumi), a seasonal green salad, a charcuterie plate, and rich, melty Raclette presented simply with roasted garlic potatoes and cornichons. With 60 to 80 domestic cheeses in rotation, Mission Cheese will also operate as a walk-in cut-to-order shop.

An exclusively local selection of beer and wine is on the way, and will hopefully appear before the end of the month. The cozy interior seats 20 but the eatery's sidewalk seating will be in high demand on warm nights. You can get your cheese fix here any day of the week from 11 AM until 8 PM and hopefully later next year when Dvorak plans to extend the hours. If you want more of the backstory, read her blog detailing her adventures in cheese land. [The Feast]
