The Mission: Seeing as how it's still vacant and still owned by Charles Phan, we've wondered on the fate of the original location of the Slanted Door on Valencia Street before, only to be met with the honest response that he honestly hadn't decided what to do with it. That was a year ago. Well, a passing remark in a Mission Local article pretty much confirms the next project in Sir Charles' sights, assuming things (read: money, permits) fall into place: "Money is even harder to come by now, Phan said, but he hopes to open a restaurant at the [Valencia] site by the end of the year. He said he’s been distracted for years with other projects, such as the recently opened Heaven’s Dog in the SOMA Grand, and a new Out the Door, which is expected to open in Pacific Heights this year."
