San Francisco SPCA and Stockton Animal Services Celebrate Five Year Partnership
In November 2012 two shelters, San Francisco SPCA and Stockton Animal Services (SAS), joined forces for a common line of action, to improve shelter conditions, increase adoptions, and save as many lives as possible.
Thanks to the partnership, more than 40,000 animals have been saved! During the last five years, SAS’ Live Release Rate increased from 32 percent to 82 percent. Conditions at the shelter improved dramatically thanks to better cleaning and housing protocols, and the spread of disease declined significantly.
On July 1, a local Stockton nonprofit, Animal Protection League, will assume responsibility for the shelter. SF SPCA is taking what they learned in Stockton and help other shelters in need.
