San Francisco to Turn Into a Reader's Fantasy

For five days, San Francisco will turn into a cheap book lover's paradise.

More than half a million books are being sold at the 46th annual  "Big Book Sale" to benefit the San Francisco Public  Library.
     
The five-day sale, which began at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fort Mason  Center's Festival Pavilion, features books, DVDs, CDs and books on tape.
     
Except for the rare rare book, such as an early edition "Lord of the  Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien, all other literary pieces will be sold for $5 until Sunday.

Patients readers will be able to reap the greatest rewards. The  last day, when they will be sold for $1.

And this year's festival is even larger than last year. There are 100,000 books available for purchase this year.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and continues with  the same schedule through Saturday. It ends Sunday, when it will run 10 a.m.  to 4 p.m.
