Eight-year-old Shattuck Avenue destination—and Chez Panisse/Bay Wolf spinoff—Downtown Restaurant will be closing in the next week or so, hopefully for the summer only.
With school on summer break and the theater crowd slim, the crowds have been quiet, so the (onetime) three-star restaurant has decided to shutter for the months of July and August.
The restaurant is planning on coming back for the fall semester, but there's a chance that in the meantime, there will be a remodel that takes place.
The specific shutter date is still up in the air, but the strongest possibility is that Downtown's summer vacation will commence on the last weekend of June.
