Rooftop Soirées Aren't Just for the Rich

Following our look at NoPa's upcoming Zygmunt Arendt House, a reader sent in this concept drawing of 1400 Mission, the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corp's project due to break ground sometime this year.

Judging from its napkin-sketch quality, we're betting the design's far from final, but our market-rate condos could probably learn a thing or two from those garden roofs— another swanky vantage point for SoMa's special brand of urban grit! The parcel was sold to the TNDC and Citizens Housing by Bank of America in 2000 for a bargain price of just over $10 million.

The new owners subsequently split off the part north of Jessie, to be turned into high-rise condos by Crescent Heights— or, as fate would have it, a rubble-strewn hole. Anyway, we're talking 210 studio apartments just across from The Fin. But we'll miss that parking lot, won't we?
