The French have been given yet another reason to hate America: our coffee.
Starbucks said Tuesday it plans to inflict its brand of coffee on the rich coffeehouse culture of France.
The coffee chain has taken over full control of its French operation from Grupo Vips, according to a report in the Business Journals.
But the move carried a hint of good news for Spain and Portugal. As part of the deal, Grupo Vips will fully operate the chain's stores for France's southern neighbors.
“We look forward to sharing our passion for high quality coffee and our commitment to outstanding customer service with local customers,” Franck Esquerré, managing director, Starbucks Coffee France, said in a statement.
Starbucks operates 50 coffeehouses in Paris and Lyon and employs about 800 people, the Business Journals reported. Meanwhile back home, Starbucks continues to try to fool coffee lovers into its shops.
