Superclub Goes Meatless

Vegetarian rejoice as they get their chance for famed meal

What do you get when you fill a room with Michelin rated chefs from around the world and hundreds of people laying in Roman style beds with dimmed lights and live DJ music? Get your head out of the gutter. You get Supperclub of course.

Renowned for its provocative and entertaining approach to fine dining, Supperclub San Francisco usually is not that appealing to vegetarians. But for a special week , the restaurant will offer completely meatless gourmet dinners from Tuesday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, March 1 at its SOMA restaurant, at 657 Harrison St. in San Francisco.

The fixed price three and four-course surprise menus will be served to guests as they lounge on Roman-style beds while they enjoy a series of live performances and music mixed by resident DJs. And if that was not enough the restaurant will serve a special selection of health-oriented cocktails will also be featured.

"We like to create new and exciting experiences our guests," Supperclub's General Manager Edme Straver said. "For those who follow a vegetarian diet, the menu will be a welcome pleasure -- and for those that do not usually eat strictly vegetarian, the menu will be a revelation."

The restaurant is known for its diverse menu with its abnormal entertainment and setting. The restaurant feels more like a club than a place to get a two-star Michelin rated meal.

Supperclub San Francisco's week long focus on healthful culinary arts and its signature entertainment that includes fine art, performance art, and music, the healing arts will also be spotlighted, with foot, shoulder, and full-body massages.

"After the fast pace that we all encounter in this contemporary society, a body needs healthy food, with physical and mental stimulation to relax and let go," Straver said. "When our guests are open (to) trying new things that they might not ordinarily encounter, the experience can be transformative -- and very memorable."

Supperclub San Francisco offers the special menu Tuesdays through Sundays, with dinner seating beginning at 7 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 415-348-0900.
