BARF admittedly isn't the most pleasant acronym imaginable, but the Bay Area Record Fair is still worth a spin.
Record swaps and sales are nothing new around these parts, of course, but BARF has more to distinguish itself than shock tactics. The event has the participation of at least two dozen local labels, including Alternative Tentacles, Father/Daughter, and 1-2-3-4 Go!
In preparation for the organization's second annual main event on September 27 at Thee Parkside, BARF will be setting up micro fairs at NightLife at California Academy of Sciences on July 3 and at the Phono Del Sol music fest on July 12.
September's event will be free, but early bird tickets ($5) are available now for crate diggers who want to get going with BARF an hour before the general entry time.
