Zinn's bestselling companion "A People's History of the United States, Voices of a People's History" will bring together some of Hollywood's finest (and most surprising readers) to the stage to give you an entertaining schooling in history.
The likes of locals like Benjamin Bratt, Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn will share the stage with Josh Brolin and Diane Lane (who have been seen in the Bay Area a few times since Brolin was in "Milk"), the Stairwell Sisters, Clarence Thomas and more.
Zinn will be on "conducting" duties while the celebs will proof they can read by spinning together first-person accounts of American activism throughout history, from Frederick Douglass to Cindy Sheehan.
The popular leftist book digs into "the hypocrisy of Independence Day" or the "fallacy of an 'all-volunteer' army" in an economically polarized society.
The book is famous for highlighting the voices of dissent in American history that urged for self-improvement.
The historical party kicks off at the Mission High School Auditorium, 3750 18th St. in San Francisco, at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Tickets are not being sold on line, but a limited number of them will be available at the door. So get there early and get there often.
