Downtown SJ Won't Go Hungry

Safeway Moving in

People trying to make a life out of living downtown will now finally have some sustenance.

After much speculation, Safeway is finally moving into The 88, a new high rise downtown.

According to the San Jose Business Journal, the Redevelopment Agency can only go forward with the project if the city approves $1.85 million for a parking elevator to shuttle shoppers to the garage below the building.

The City Council will consider the request Feb. 24.

The new store would be called The Market, and it’s predicted it would create almost 80 jobs and bring millions to the area over time.
