Gas Prices Take a Plunge

Overnight prices dip 6 to 8 cents

Bay Area gas prices took a sudden plunge overnight.

There has been a freefall for several weeks but the past 24 hours brought one of the largest drops in price.

AAA says the average price of a gallon of regular gas fell six to eight cents overnight.

Prices are down about 90 to 95 cents from a month ago.

Experts say the drop is due to the recent economic troubles. The sluggish economy has decreased demand and Americans are driving less. Plus, there has been an increase in supply.

Some analysts think prices will continue to go down while others say we are about to bottom out.
