Resident Evil Launch Party Set to Infect Union Square

Video game to debut in San Francisco

Gamers unite. Capcom is holding the launch party for "Resident Evil 5" right here in San Francisco's Union Square on Thursday. Perfectly enough the game hits store shelves on the same day.

The party to celebrate the new video, which was also a movie series that started Milla Jovovich, starts at 8 p.m. and ends at midnight, when you don't have to go home but you can't stay there.

After the party, gamers will be able to get their grubby, control pushing hands on their very own copy of "Resident Evil 5," as well as get to play the game beforehand at a multitude of game kiosks that will be set up in the square.

There will of course be prizes and giveaways that organizers say will entice people to party. Maybe they didn't get the memo that some (not all) gamers are more comfortable in their basements alone with their video games than socializing at any party.

There will also be an opportunity to meet members of the development team, including co-producers Jun Takeuchi and Masachicka Kawata, and chat with the motion capture and voice actors that play Chris, Sheva and Josh in the game. Sweet. That sounds like a party. If you are unfamiliar with the game, check out the preview below.
