An abandoned West Adams hospital has been temporarily transformed into an art space.
Over 200 paintings, sculptures and installation works by 86 artists decorate 40,000 square feet of the hospital’s various empty rooms.
Works are displayed among surgical rooms, maternity wards, a psychiatric floor and cafeteria.
The exhibit titled "Human Condition" explores the "existential question of our existence," according to curator John Wolf.
In what was once a nursery on the first floor, the now empty room features a faded mural of bunny rabbits juxtaposed with the image of a screaming man.
"I want people to leave questioning their own identity and purpose," Wolf said.
The former Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center closed in 2013 amid revelations of criminal mismanagement and insurance fraud.

"The structure is the ultimate setting," Wolf said. "A physical space that inhabits so much emotion, from fear, pain, trauma and joy. The loss of a loved one, and the birth of a child."
The Human Condition exhibit is open now through Nov. 30.
