CHP Officer Shuttles DUI Victims to Wedding After Crash

Three women journeying to a wedding in Placerville Sunday were hit by a suspected drunken driver, but thanks to a California Highway Patrol officer, they were still able to celebrate the marriage's festivities.

The group was traveling along Highway 50 near Kyburz when the suspected drunken driver crashed into their car, as reported by NBC affiliate KCRA.

Both cars spun out and flipped over, but no one suffered serious injuries, according to the CHP.

After learning about the group's situation, CHP Officer Bryan Schneider drove the women to the ceremony.

"Proud of Officer Schneider in @CHPPlacerville for going the extra mile with the safe delivery of these 3 DUI collision victims to a wedding," a tweet from the CHP Headquarters account read.

The suspected drunk driver, who was identified as a man in his 40s from Auburn, was transported to a hospital as a precaution, according to the CHP. Officers then arrested him and transported him to the El Dorado County Jail on a felony DUI charge.
