DITTO: Neighbor's Response to “Crazy, Over-the-Top” Christmas Display

As the saying goes,"If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em," which is exactly what one Tarzana household did in response to their neighbor’s elaborate Christmas lights display.

Residents of the neighboring home had the word "DITTO" strung in Christmas lights, with an arrow pointing to their neighbor’s display.

Lisa Steele, who lives in the "ditto" home, told NBC4 that her roommate and her roommate’s boyfriend came up with the idea.

"Our neighbors, Melinda and Ferb, every year, they do this crazy, over the top, awesome Christmas decoration," Steele said. "You could never compete with it, so we collaborated with them and thought it would be funny if we did our best to compete with what they have got going on."

Steele jokes that the minimalistic approach saves their household a ton on electricity. In all sincerity, she hopes that her house offers visitors some extra Christmas cheer.

"The cool the thing is people come by the street to see (our neighbor’s display), and they get a little extra when they see (ours)," Steele said.
