Man Threatened by Taser, Robbed of Google Glass on Venice Boardwalk

In addition to the Google Glass, the robbers also took the victim’s computer.

A Venice man was traumatized after two thieves robbed him of his Google Glass Monday night.

The crime occurred near the Venice boardwalk just before 9 p.m. The victim was sitting on his patio working on his computer and wearing his Google Glass when a man terrorized him with a taser, according the victim’s roommate.

"A crazy guy with a taser ran up with an active taser and threatened him, so he threw his electronics at him," the victim’s roommate Sam Nicolosi said.

An LAPD lieutenant told NBC4 that taser robberies are rare, but not unusual for the area.

Google Glass, a high-priced eye wear that went on sale Tuesday as part of a special one-day sale to the public, costs approximately $1,500.

"If you have Google Glasses then yeah, like, I'm pretty sure anywhere you are someone's gonna rob you cause it's not an item you see everyday," Venice visitor Joshua Garnica said.

In addition to the Google Glass, the robbers also took the victim’s computer.

"He said his life wasn't worth the Google Glass, so he threw his electronics and ran in the house," the victim’s roommate said.

The two suspects have not been located.
