Possibly Kidnapped Inglewood Teen Is Found

An Inglewood teenager who is developmentally disabled has been found, days after a possible kidnapper made several disturbing phone calls to the girl's parents, authorities said.

Police did not release many details about the 17-year-old’s discovery, saying only that she was found Saturday in the Los Angeles area.

Issuing a plea Friday for help finding their daughter, Dalaysia Miles’ parents said she has the mental capacity of a 5-year-old due to her disability and had been without her medication for nearly a week.

Miles had run away from home several times before, so when she first disappeared June 23, her parents thought she ran away – until they received a phone call from a man who said he had her.

"I begged for him to allow me to speak with her," said the girl's stepmother, Celeste Williams. " He said, 'No, you just better hope that she's safe.'"

She said she heard her daughter cry out for help.
Inglewood police Lt. Gabriela Garcia Friday said authorities were treating this case as a kidnapping.

Miles was undergoing a medical exam Saturday afternoon as a precaution, a watch commander with the Inglewood Police Department said. Detectives will be interviewing her soon.

No one has been taken into custody in connection with the teen’s disappearance.
