Deputies Rattled by Rattlesnake at SoCal Station

The rattlesnake was first discovered in the sheriff's station's parking lot on July 31 around 4 p.m., in front of a curb marked "visitors"

One sheriff's station had an "unwelcomed visitor" last month, when a rattlesnake found its way to the LA County Sheriff's Department's Marina del Rey Station, a sergeant said on Monday.

The rattlesnake was first discovered in the sheriff's station's parking lot on July 31 around 4 p.m., in front of a curb marked "visitors," according to Sgt. Amore Smith.

"The animal control cut his head off," Smith said. He added that the three-foot-long snake may have come from nearby wetlands.

Smith posted pictures of the snake on Twitter, along with a picture of a deputy holding the snake's body and a LA County animal control officer holding the snake's head.
