Search on for Sheriff's Deputy Who Escaped Cuffs After Arrest

Police in California are searching for a sheriff’s deputy who escaped after being arrested on Tuesday, NBC News reported.

Deputy Edward Gordon Tucker escaped from his handcuffs and climbed through a cracked patrol car window, Kern County sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt told NBC affiliate KGET.

Tucker was arrested after a friend asked police to conduct a welfare check on the deputy. Police then found several guns and drugs in his car, the station reported.

It's the second time he was arrested in three days. Police arrested Tucker on Saturday for allegedly pulling a gun on a group of teens, authorities said. He was released on bail.

Tucker has been on the force for 18 years, but was on leave for a “personal issue,” KGET reported.
