Sleeping Homeless Woman Sexually Assaulted in Pasadena

Police were searching for a man who sexually assaulted a sleeping homeless woman in Pasadena over the weekend.

The woman woke up partially unclothed just before 3 a.m. Saturday with a stranger wrapped around her, officials with the Pasadena Police Department said.

"She was yelling," said the woman's friend, Melinda Wilson Folkers, who was sleeping nearby during the assault at Raymond Avenue and Del Mar Boulevard. "There was a stranger behind her that was holding her and his pants were down. She told her boyfriend, husband actually, and he was still coming to, waking up, he was distraught that somebody was in their bed."

Detectives were searching for 47-year-old Emilio Buch in connection with the assault.

Members of the homeless community and employees in the area said incidents like the one reported by the victim are not uncommon.

"It could have been me," Wilson Folkers said. "It makes me feel sad because I know that innocent women are always being attacked in this neighborhood."

The area is home to a Union Station Adult Center, a homeless shelter.
