A candlelight vigil was held at Cal State University San Bernardino and at an interfaith church ceremony Monday night to honor the San Bernardino shooting victims and their families.
Hundreds gathered to pay their respects the victims and survivors of the massacre, including five CSUSB alumni, slain in Wednesday's mass shooting, and at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral.
Community members, county employees, local and national labor leaders, including SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry, and state and local elected officials were among the many expected to attend the vigil at 5 p.m. at the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
Fourteen people died and 21 were injured Wednesday when a husband and wife opened fire at the Inland Regional Center in a case the FBI is investigating as a "terrorist act," officials said.
For CSUSB student Alyssa Ables, the shooting hits close to home when she reflects on it.
"My heart dropped. My mom works near that area and goes there for lunch a lot," she said.
CSUSB professor Dany Douriri asked everyone who attended to remember everyone who died in the shooting.

"Remember all of those who passed last week in a tragic massacre sadly committed by none other than sadly, one of our own graduates. Maybe one of my own students?"
