South Bay Shifts Into High-Gear Party Mode

I was at a friend's house for dinner, when we were interupted by piercing screams.

We jumped for the balcony to see what was going on and heard what sounded like a swarm of bees.

The bees turned out to be hundreds of rubber tires zipping down the street and the screams were coming from the lungs of fired-up night riders.

Bike Party Rolls Through Santana Row

When I spotted a guy popping a wheely, I had to get it on video.

It was a full-on bicycle invasion and come to find out ... it has a name, the San Jose Bike Party.

Every third Friday of the month, while many of us are scarfing down dinner and drinks or watching the tube, pedal-pushers from all over the South Bay converge in the dark for some two-wheeling fun.

Routes change up every time and while the idea of riding wild in the night seems crazy and rebellious, the group does take bike laws very seriously.  An entire page of its Web site is dedicated to rules and regs.

Anyone can join ... if this is your cup of tea, check the website for the next scheduled ride.
