Scientists Use Lasers to Regrow Teeth

Scientists have developed a new way to repair teeth that uses laser light to stimulate the body's stem cells into forming dentin, the hard, bone-like tissue that makes up most of a tooth, Reuters reported. "Our treatment modality does not introduce anything new to the body, and lasers are routinely used in medicine and dentistry, so the barriers to clinical translation are low," said Harvard University bioengineering professor David Mooney. The method is a major step forward in the field of regenerative medicine and could offer enormous promise beyond dentistry in years to come.
