Man Dies After Being Rescued From Napa River

A man died Saturday evening after being pulled out of the Napa River, according to officials.

Napa Police Sgt. Todd Shulman said a witness saw a man acting erratically before jumping into the river and swimming east toward the Oxbow Preserve.

The Napa Valley Register reported the witness later called police to report that the man was swimming in the river again and shouting.

Capt. Ty Becerra said police used a rescue boat to reach the man.

Emergency responders performed CPR on the man and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said the man's identity was not immediately available Sunday, and no identification was found on him.
