1 Dead in San Jose House Fire: SJFD

One person died in a house fire late Wednesday, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

The blaze erupted at about 7:20 p.m. on the 900 block of Jeanne Avenue. Responding crews arrived to smoke and flames at the house and a man telling them a person was still inside.

Firefighters searched the house and found a body in the back bedroom. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators believe the fire started in a back bedroom. Police and arson detectives also responded and are treating the area as a crime scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Earlier in the day, fire crews knocked down a two-alarm house fire in the 2000 block of Flintcrest Drive.

The single-story home was left uninhabitable when its roof collapsed during the blaze.
