The Contra Costa Coroner on Friday confirmed that a 13-month-old girl died after drowning in the family's Concord pool.
The coroner identified the girl as Emilia Johnson of Concord. Police Cprl. Christopher Blakely deemed the death a "tragic accident."
Fire crews were sent to a home in the 100 block of Ridge Park Drive on Wednesday about 8 p.m. Blakeley said the mother discovered her daughter in the pool, and she had not realized the girl had left the house.
The mother, a neighbor and police performed CPR on the child, who was taken to a hospital. She died overnight, the coroner said.
It's unknown how the child fell into the pool. The father of the girl, who was standing in the family's driveway on Friday morning, declined to comment, as he was too distraught to speak about his daughter.
