Multiple people were shot, and at least one was dead Wednesday evening at a home in Aptos, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office told television station KSBW.
The shooting occurred about 4:15 p.m. off Trout Gulch Road, and sheriff's officials confirmed one fatality and two people in critical condition, KSBW reported. One of the victims was stabbed.
The scene was contained, and there was no threat to the community, sheriff's officials said.
The investigation was ongoing late Wednesday, and no further details were available.
