$10,000 Reward Offered for Sierra LaMar’s Safe Return

The family of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar has announced a $10,000 reward for her safe return.

The reward, announced Saturday, is available to the first person who provides information that leads to LaMar, 15, being returned alive and safe to her family, said KlaasKids Foundation founder Mark Klaas.

The funds for the reward come from LaMar's family, and not from the foundation, which has been coordinating volunteer search efforts, Klaas said.

LaMar has been missing since Friday March 16, when she did not show up for school, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office and volunteers have been conducting an extensive search of the area surrounding her home, where she was last seen.

Items belonging to LaMar including her bag and cell phone have been recovered.

Saturday, 600 volunteers in 53 teams went out to search, according to Klaas, including San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith and some teammates.

There will be no search Sunday due to the Easter holiday. The next search will take place on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be based out of the Burnett Elementary School in Morgan Hill. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and register with photo ID at the search center.

The KlaasKids Foundation has said they need people to help search on foot and to work in the Find Sierra Search Center. They are also accepting food and office supply donations.
