16-Year-Old Boy Arrested in Fatal Stabbing in Watsonville

A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Monday on suspicion of a fatal stabbing of a 51-year-old victim in Watsonville on Sunday evening.

Watsonville police said they responded at 6:36 p.m. to the dead-end block of Marchant Street near the Pajaro River Levee on a report of an attack and arrived to find the victim suffering from a stab wound.

The victim, whose name is not yet being released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Multiple witnesses told investigators that two male juveniles had an altercation with the victim prior to the stabbing and were last seen walking toward the Pajaro River. One of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, was identified and taken into custody at his home around 1:50 a.m. Monday, according to police.

Police are considering the homicide gang-related and are still looking for the second suspect.
