A preliminary 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck in the South Bay Saturday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey.
It happened around 3:02 p.m., USGS said, and was centered to around 9.4 miles northeast of San Jose and 7.5 miles east of Milpitas.
