2 Arrested Following Alleged DUI Race That Killed Young San Jose Man

Two people have been arrested following a collision Sunday in San Jose that killed a passenger in one of the cars, police said Friday.

Vicente Ochoa, 37, and Arturo Ceja, 27, both of San Jose are suspected of racing each other before one of the cars crashed into a tree, killing 24-year-old San Jose resident David Mandujano, according to police and the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Mandujano was a passenger in a silver 2002 Pontiac Trans Am that Ceja was allegedly driving. Social media users said Mandujano was always kind and positive, and was getting ready to move to Las Vegas.

The family of a 24-year-old who died after an apparent street race in San Jose gathered where he was killed after the car he was in slammed into a tree on Cinco de Mayo.

Police believe the Ceja was under the influence when he crashed at 9:55 p.m. at Santa Teresa Boulevard and Lean Avenue.

Police said Ceja is still in the hospital and was administratively booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI causing death.

Ochoa was driving a Chevrolet Camaro. Ochoa went with his attorney Friday to the San Jose Police Department where officers arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death, felony reckless driving and felony street racing.
