2 Injured After Vehicle Crashes Into San Jose Panda Express

Two restaurant patrons were taken to a hospital Sunday afternoon after a vehicle collided into a Panda Express in the 4800 block of San Felipe Road in San Jose.

The injuries were not considered life threatening, but the injured people were taken to a hospital to be checked out, police said. The customers were sitting near a window at the front of the restaurant.

The collision occurred shortly after noon. Danny Frias, who manages the pizza shop next door heard the crash and came running.

"We just heard a loud noise; I didn’t know what it was," he said. "Once I realized there was a car in there...then I was kind of scared. Everybody was walking around...everybody was moving ... then we helped the lady out of the car."

Witnesses said the driver thought the vehicle was in reverse when she accelerated. Then she panicked and hit the accelerator more, thinking it was the brake.

The restaurant stayed open while crews cleaned up broken glass and debris and shored up a damaged wall.
