A two-alarm structure fire Saturday morning at a residential complex in San Jose sent one person to the hospital with burns and displaced 11 people.

Firefighters responded at 5:24 a.m. to a structure fire at a nine-unit two-story residential complex at 600 South Ninth Street, between Interstate 280 and the San Jose State University campus, according to San Jose Fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort.

The fire was knocked down at 6:11 a.m. and under control at 6:44 a.m.

Most of the residents of the building were able to make it out of the building unharmed, but one person suffered second and third burns in the blaze and was transported to the hospital, Van Elgort said.
