2 Robbed at Gunpoint Near UC Berkeley Campus

Four male suspects robbed a man and a woman at gunpoint near the University of California at Berkeley campus early Saturday morning, police said.

At about 2:50 a.m., a man and a woman, both 21 years of age, were walking near the intersection of University and Shattuck avenues when four male suspects approached them.

One suspect attempted to grab the woman's purse, while another suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the woman, police said.

Fearing for her safety the woman handed over her belongings to the suspects, police said.

All four suspects are described as black male adults, according to police.

One suspect is described as between 18 and 20 years of age, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build. He is described as clean-shaven, with a shaved head, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with dark jeans.

The second suspect, who was armed with a gun, is described as between 18 and 20 years of age, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build.

He is described as clean-shaven, with short black hair, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with dark jeans.

No further descriptions have been released regarding the additional two suspects, police said.
