5 Dead, Including Suspect, in Murder-Suicide at San Jose Home

A suspect fatally shot four people in a San Jose house before turning the gun on himself in what's being described as a murder-suicide, police said Monday.

One man and three women were identified as the victims who were shot inside the home located along the 500 block of Habbitts Court, police said. The suspect was identified as a male.

"It appears the suspect shot the four victims before committing suicide by shooting himself," police said in a statement.

Officers responded to the scene around 8:40 p.m. and found "several" family members running away from the house, according to police. Officers learned that the suspect shot at least one person and that other victims were still possibly trapped inside.

Using an armored vehicle, officers pulled a man and a woman from the home. They were both suffering from at least one gunshot wound each and were taken to the hospital, where they later died, police said.

Two other women and the suspect β€” all still believed to be inside the house β€”remained unaccounted for, according to police. Officers then entered the home around 1:25 a.m. and found the two victims and the suspect all suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. They were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The deadly shooting marks San Jose's 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th homicides of the year, according to police.

The identities of the victims and the suspect have yet to be revealed.
