A 20-month-old child was struck and critically injured by a vehicle on a driveway in Menlo Park on Sunday night, according to police.
The collision was reported around 8 p.m. but occurred between 6:30 and 6:40 p.m. in a private driveway about 30 feet from the roadway in the 200 block of Willow Road.
The toddler was riding a toy vehicle when a 26-year-old man, a relative of the child, was backing his gray Ford Fusion on the driveway and did not see the child, police said.
The child is in critical condition at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford but is expected to survive, according to police.
The driver is cooperating with investigators, who do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the case.
