3 Suspects Arrested in Connection to Hayward Fatal Stabbing

Three men are in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing in Hayward early Saturday morning, the city's second homicide this year, according to police.

The stabbing occurred during a fight in a municipal parking lot to the rear of 1082 B St. at about 12:20 a.m., Hayward police Sgt. Ken Forkus said.

The victim, a man in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested 29-year-old Daniel Ramirez, 27-year-old Robert Ramirez and 19-year-old Jose Vasquez in connection with the murder, according to Forkus.

Two of the three suspects also suffered stab wounds as a result of the fight, according to Forkus.

The three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned at the Hayward Hall of Justice on Wednesday.

Forkus called the crime an "isolated incident" and said the fatal stabbing stemmed from an argument between two groups of people.

"One of our top priorities is to maintain a safe downtown area," Forkus said. "We don't have a lot of violence downtown generally speaking."

He added that the Police Department is investigating whether the stabbing was gang-related.
