3 Cars Burned in Campbell, Firefighters Say Suspicious

Santa Clara County firefighters were called out to a Campbell carport early Monday to investigate suspicious fires that burned at least three cars parked outside in a carport.

Battalion Chief Brian Glass said “anytime you have three of anything on fire, it’s suspicious.”

Dispatch received calls about 4:15 a.m. about explosive sounds and flames at 710 Nido Drive in Campbell.

Viewer Jonathan Beronilla shared his cell phone video showing the fire, and crews investigating the aftermath.

Other neighbors said they saw several cars engulfed in flames. One of those cars was a silver Hyundai, and the first car ever owned by her young owner, Glass said. She had owned it for less than a year, and it is covered under insurance, she said. The other two cars are Nissans, Glass said.

No injuries were reported.

NBC Shawn Murphy contributed to this report.
