3 Juveniles Arrested in Union City Home Invasion

Three juveniles were arrested early Friday morning in a home invasion incident on I Street near Railroad Avenue in Union City, police said.

Police were called shortly after midnight and learned that the residents of the home were sleeping when three armed and masked males entered, awakening the father of the family, who was on the couch.

The father ran upstairs and took refuge with the rest of the household in the master bedroom, but the intruders kicked the door open, pointed firearms and demanded money.

The trio took property and fled in a vehicle, with arriving police pursuing them until the drive struck a fire hydrant on Tidewater Drive.

The suspects fled on foot, with one apprehended by an officer and K9 partner and a second chased and stopped by another officer.

A perimeter was set up where the third suspect was last seen running and a drone was used to find him hiding in a bush at a nearby residence.

The three youths, two age 17 and one age 16, were arrested and some of the stolen property was recovered, along with replica firearms.
