A 3-year-old San Leandro boy is listed in stable condition Thursday morning after being injured during a shooting in Oakland Wednesday night, according to police.
The boy was hurt when a bullet struck the vehicle he was in, according to police. Fragments from that bullet left the boy with injuries to his head.
Police initially stated that the child had been shot before later clarifying that the boy had been injured as a result of the shooting.
The shooting occurred just before 9:45 p.m. along the 1600 block of 80th Avenue, police said.
Teddy bear in hand Thursday morning, Oakland Police Department Acting Chief Leronne Armstrong paid a visit to the boy at the hospital.
