33-Year-Old Woman Shot to Death in San Jose

A 33-year-old woman from the Sacramento area has been killed in San Jose - her body was left on a street in an act that police say was not random, as she knew her gunman.

San Jose Police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said the woman was shot in a car Tuesday about 9:55 p.m. in the 1300 block of S. Bascom Avenue at Stokes Street near Del Mar High School and a 7-Eleven.

She stumbled outside the car, a witness who lives nearby told NBC Bay Area off camera, and a man, woman and baby stayed with her for a while before taking off in a white car. It’s unclear what their relationship was to the woman.

But the witness said he heard three gunshots and then the woman with the baby screaming, identifying who pulled the trigger. NBC Bay Area is not recounting his version because it would identify the shooter, whom police have not arrested.

The driver of that car stuck around for a bit after the shooting, said the witness, who didn't want to be identified, and then drove off.

Firefighters arrived and tried to save her, Garcia said, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garcia said it appears as though the woman had been shot while she was in the car, and that she knew the suspect. Garcia said the car has been recovered and is now being processed for evidence.
