3 Men Stabbed, 2 Beaten in Attack Near School in East San Jose

Investigators in East San Jose are trying to piece together what led to a big fight that sent five men to the hospital.

Police found the five male adult victims at the scene, one of them suffering from serious stab wounds. Two other suffered superficial stab wounds and the others were suffering from blunt force trauma, police said.

The fight broke out near Darwin and Bermuda ways – next to William Overfelt High School – about 11 p.m. Thursday night.

Officers said three men were stabbed and two others appeared to have been hit in the head by some sort of object, possibly a bat.

Police said they are trying to sort out the victims from the attackers.

“Two groups got in a pretty large fight,” SJPD Lt. Jason Dwyer said. “We know there were several weapons involved. We don’t know if both sides had weapons, or if just one side had a weapon, but most sides had injuries consistent with being struck or stabbed with weapons.”

All five men are expected to survive, but police say those who were hit in the head are undergoing tests to make sure there is no brain damage.
