NBC Universal, Inc.

Five teenagers who were rescued from the water at Ocean Beach in San Francisco Thursday afternoon are expected to recover, according to fire officials.

At least one victim was unconscious when he was pulled from the water, which is known for having dangerous rip currents.

Rescue swimmers from the National Park Service and the fire department responded to the scene after receiving reports around 1:30 p.m. that people in the water needed help.

The victims — all males ranging in age from 15 to 17 — are from the East Bay.
