51-Year-Old Man in Critical Condition Following Hit-and-Run Crash in San Jose

A 51-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was critically injured in a hit-and-run collision in San Jose.

Richard Yanis was struck by someone driving a black truck on Father's Day, June 15, in the corner of Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Road. Yanis, a father of three, was walking in the area with a friend before he was struck. He has been in a coma since the collision.

Yanis' family is seeking the public's help to identify the driver.

"He almost made it to the curb and someone just came by and hit him and left him there to die," said Lenette Martinez, Yanis' sister.

A witness told Yanis' family that someone driving the black truck stopped after the collision, looked and sped off.

Yanis is in critical condition at a local hospital. He suffered broken legs, pelvis and shoulder. he also suffered severe head trauma.

The family wants the driver of the truck or any other witnesses to come forward.

"That's not fair for the family," said Lisa Martinez, a friend. "He is practically dying on his death bed."
