Oakland police and the FBI arrested eight people at a home in the 2300 block of 90th Avenue after serving a search warrant today, a police spokesperson said.
The warrant authorizing a search for illegal weapons and narcotics was served around 1:50 p.m. today, according to Johnna Watson, spokesperson for the Oakland Police Department.
Police arrested eight men at the home and recovered three pounds of marijuana, a large amount of ammunition, an illegal ammunition magazine, narcotics and a large amount of cash, Watson said.
The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation that police have been working on with the FBI over the past several months, Watson said.
During the search police locked down nearby Castlemont High School and stopped pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area.
The investigation is looking into whether today's arrests and seizures are related to gang activity, Watson said.
The names of those arrested and exact charges were not immediately available, Watson said.
