83 Walmart Employees to Be Impacted by West San Jose Store Closure in April

Those who work and shop at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Saratoga Avenue in San Jose will have to go elsewhere for their groceries and prescriptions in April.

Around 83 employees will have to transfer to another store or find another job as Walmart announced Wednesday that it will close down the West San Jose store on April 19. The pharmacy will close on April 5, the Mercury News first reported.

The superstore said the closure is due to a "number of factors," including the store's overall performance.

The employees will be paid through May 24 unless they transfer to another location. Those who aren't able to transfer will receive a severance, the company said.

There are at least eight other Walmart Superstores and Walmart Neighborhood Markets in the South Bay, according to the company's website.
